Dari Coelho, Lewat Brida.. #2

T: Jadi, kalau begitu, apa gunanya mencari jawaban?

ASTOUNDING, yet kinda drilling. That word came forward after I watched this movie. In some ways I found this movie conveyed an upstanding biopic which required the two main actors to transform dramatically representing the character by body metamorphoses, speech, action and gestures.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...

Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof.
Where have all those bulky arms gone? :P

 Jared Leto as Rayon
GEEZ! He's got Cara Delevigne's THIGH GAP! MY EYES!

well, what would have happened if the director, Jean-Marc Vallée, really cast a trans-gender woman as Rayon? I bet it would arouse critical and sincere comment from LGBT community. well, just a thought.

Here's the movie info from Focus Features

"Matthew McConaughey stars in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB as real-life Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof, whose free-wheeling life was overturned in 1985 when he was diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. These were the early days of the AIDS epidemic, and the U.S. was divided over how to combat the virus. Ron, now shunned and ostracized by many of his old friends, and bereft of government-approved effective medicines, decided to take matters in his own hands, tracking down alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal. Bypassing the establishment, the entrepreneurial Woodroof joined forces with an unlikely band of renegades and outcasts - who he once would have shunned - and established a hugely successful "buyers' club." Their shared struggle for dignity and acceptance is a uniquely American story of the transformative power of resilience. (c) Focus Features"
This epic biopic movie moved me but not really pathetic. Getting off with the uh-oh sound of Ron made love to two unknown women, it was quite surprise me, LOL. Inside the cinema, there were only approx 12 people watching, and three of them, including me, we were the only women. thank goodness i wasn't alone that nite. and we all were like, "WHOA, what on earth was that?"

Thru the movie, we were surely impressed by McConaughey's and Leto's acting abilities. Their portrayal to the characters (Rayon was fictional, tho, according to some sources) was immensely splendid, indeed. No wonder why at the 71st Golden Globe Awards, they won Best Actor – Motion Picture – Drama and Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture respectively.

Despite bits of its draggy dialogs and irksome scenes, the message transmitted quite successfully. As an AIDS-infected, Ron's struggle was not a happy-ending one. He became the doctor for his own medication and helped others with the disease to be the subject to his own specified treatment or analysis of HIV-AIDS illegally medicine in the US at that time. In addition, Rayon's character was intravenously injected an undeniable quality of being open and truthful; not deceitful or hypocritical trans. Rayon graciously enclosed a sucker punch of mere, meek, and touché extravagant drama in which action is more salient than characterization. Sweet, tender, yet much inflictive and enchanting.

here's a spoiler, hahaha. no kidding.

This god-dammit-i-like-it song from an I- used-to-avoid singer keeps echoing deep down inside my brain, going thru my vein, spreading the same pain. Thank you @tulusm for composing this abyssal depth song reprising my current circumstance. END-JOY!

Are You Mingier Than A Summer Finn?

*opening track*
now playing: Regina Spektor - Us.

Here by, I summed up some noteworthy dialogs, lines, and narrations from the movie that I'd never get bored to watch, might be for the 500th time(s) of 500 days of summer.

Author (((edited)))

The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you XXX. BEACH.

Narration

  • This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie The Graduate. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parents' marriage she'd only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and feel nothing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.
  • Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life. May 23rd was a Wednesday.
  • If Tom had learned anything, it was that you can't ascribe great cosmic significance to a simple Earthly event. Coincidence, that's all anything ever is. Nothing more, than coincidence. Tom had finally learned there are no miracles, there is no such thing as fate, nothing is meant to be. He knew, he was sure of it now. Tom was... he was pretty sure.

Tom

  • People don't realize this, but loneliness is underrated.
  • Why make something disposable like a building when you can make something that lasts forever, like a greeting card.
  • You never wanted to be anybody's girlfriend, and now you're someone's wife?
  • Either she's an evil, emotionless, miserable human being, or... she's a robot.
  • I need to know that you're not gonna wake up tomorrow morning and feel differently.
  • It's these cards and the movies and the pop songs, they're to blame for all lies and the heartache, everything.
  • This is lies. We are liars. Think about it. Why do people buy cards? It's not because they want to say how they feel. People buy cards because they can't say they feel or are afraid to. And we provide the service that let's them off the hook. You know what? I say to hell with it. Let's level with America. Or at least let them speak for themselves. Right?

Tom vs Summer

Summer: We're just fr...
Tom      : [Interrupting]
Tom      : No! Don't pull that with me! This is not how you treat your friend! Kissing in the copy room? Holding hands in IKEA? Shower sex? Come on! Friends my balls!

and this one is the one really characterized by often poignant difference or incongruity between what is expected and what actually is~

Summer: We've been like Sid and Nancy for months now.
Tom      : Summer, Sid stabbed Nancy, seven times with a kitchen knife, I mean we have some disagreements but I hardly think I'm Sid Vicious.
Summer: No I'm Sid.
Tom      : Oh, so I'm Nancy...
[Pancakes arrive]
Summer: Let's just eat and we'll talk about it later. Mmm, that is good, I'm really glad we did this. I love these pancakes... what?
[Tom gets up and walks away from the table]
Summer: Tom, don't go! You're still my best friend!

Narrator

Tom walked to her apartment, intoxicated by the promise of the evening. He believed that this time his expectations would align with reality...

Summer

  • I just kept thinking..."Tom was right". It just wasn't me you were right about.
  • There's no such thing as love. It's a fantasy.
  • Colour my life with the chaos of trouble. -quoted from Belle & Sebastian in Summer's high school yearbook.

Dialogs

Vance: I don't mean to pry but... does this have something to do with Summer leaving?
Tom: Who?
Vance: My assistant... Tom, everyone knows. Never mind... and the reason I'm asking is because lately, your work performance seems to be... a little bit off.
Tom: I'm not following.
Vance: Okay, here's something that you wrote last week... "Roses are red, violets are blue... fuck you whore."

Taglines

  • Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn't. (((GIRL, TOO!!!)))
  • This is not a love story. This is a story about love.
  • It was almost like falling in love.

whoops, we're not stopping there, check out!

WWYD?

What Would YOU Do?

and so?

The temporal end?

thanks, Summer. you made my day. should I aspire you? *toilet flush*

I was kinda being preoccupied with these two characters; Tom Hansen and Summer Finn. They're just, like, indulged of something that is not perceived as real and is not present to the senses. I found this unfeignedly article that I think was really disturbingly provocative. I don't wanna be you, Summer Finn. PERIOD. FULL STOP.

*closing track*

Problem Faced by Urban Colony

A highly recommended thesis title for those who undergo such kind of dramatic condition that makes it difficult to make progress or to achieve the objective of your study. It's a dignified demeanor towards your faithfully steadfast allegiance of "CILOK". (((if you know what I mean))) LOL.

holymoly. I have to wait at least until next month to have this piece of heavenly sweet cherry blossom rendezvous. :")

Traveling 101: Trippy Trip to Bandoengsche

Been drowning here and there by the piles of students' werk, finally I could step into this undeniably sweet escapism.

Couple weeks ago, I got the chance to visit the absobloodylootely indiest city in Indonesia, BANDOENGSCHE (((so far, AFAIK, IMHO))) I've been waiting like forever for those days to come. Me and my truly amazing friends @Antoniatztztz and @cicuph have planned to stay in Bandung for 3 days and two nights. T'was a some-sorta backpacker trip, so we have sorted places we'd like to pay a brief visit without paying too much. hahaha. Since @cicuph lives in Bandung, we took an advantage of getting her as a for-free tour guide *fingers crossed~

First thing we did before we sailed there was finding a hostel or motel to stay, at affordable price, of course. We ended up at Samudra Hotel. It's located on Cihampelas 274. We spent IDR 340k for 3 days 2 nights. The room's quite neat and clean for an un-air-conditionered one (Bandung is already freezing cold in the morning and at night). The rate included 2 breakfast set for 2 days. We were cautious openly distrustful and unwilling to confide what hotel we stayed in. Why? Because we saw lotsa young love birds came in back and forth. I was kinda (((kepo))) so I took a long fixed look at their ring fingers, intending to see a ring, but there's nothing. So the telly apparently got it right. Moral degradation. Present generation. It might be you, might be me. Blimey.

The place to sleep: CHECK.
How to get there  : RANDOM.

Up until the night before we off to Bandung, we haven't booked the travel agent who supposed to bring us there. Oh crap. We dashed into the nearest travel agent and no more seats left. great. Out of nowhere, I got an omen. The only hope. We finally reached the other travel agent. Thank goodness there were two seats left, but they were at the very back and would go at the very late schedule, we said no probs and nailed it. This cost us to pay more, tho. But that's fine, the thing was, how to get these ass off to Bandung! YEA.

Day #1

it took us 3 hours from BSD to Bandung. we arrived there around 7 pm. bloody starving. after met up with @cicuph, @Antoniatztztz and I decided to find something to eat, checked in at the hotel, and walked to Ciwalk, which is supposed to be walked around.

Day #2
We woke up quite early that day. @omuniuum was the scheduled place to drop by. It was a small shop sells various books, records from indie artist and singers, and also indie bands' merchs. @Antoniatztztz was the one who urged us to go there. She said she wanted to buy some CDs for her partner. What kinda partner? Don't ask me any further. It's absurd. Strikingly absurd. LOL.

Actually, I didn't have any plan to buy something here, but the stuffs are SPARKLES. So I decided to buy a @bottlesmoker tees for IDR 125k.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, GOT THE T-SHIRT (LITERALLY)
GIGA LOL!

Done with the shopping thingy, we took the angkot to Braga. As we all know, Bandung is widely-known as the place where amounts of Dutch colonial architectural buildings began and flourished; particularly the tropical Art Deco architectural style. Braga street's so astounding and overwhelmingly impressive.

The deprivation for food seemingly came and stroke back, so we hurried ourselves to Warung Misbar. An eating place which fosters a warm or friendly and informal atmosphere designated in an oldschool-like movie theater. It supplies us traditional Sundanese food, tastes quite good and at a good price too. We were welcomed by gigantic vintage movie posters at the facade and inside, right in the middle, there's a giant screen played vintage movies and surrounded by giant posters of legendary actors and actresses.

IT'S TIME TO HAVE OUR FAITH RECHARGED. :))
@ St. Laurentius Church, Sukajadi.

Next destination was Paris Van Java mall. I didn't take many pictures in here. It's just normal TOFF-Class shopping avenue. I stepped into this popular shoe-store, tried the boots and took off, hahaha.

We waited for another angkot to take us to Dipatiukur street but it didn't appear for long. Walking is not an option but we were starving to death. we were about to have a munch of the famous and scrumptious Surabi Bandung. it is indeed extremely pleasing to the sense of taste.

We have another appointment with another friend, Surya, or Mas Sur, I recalled. After having our mouth and tummy fully loaded, we headed to Gasibu.

On our way back home to the hotel, we encounter an unpleasant moment in which we were involved in an unexpectedly car accident. Our car hit another car and Mas Sur had to pay for the damage. Uh I'm terribly sorry for that...

Day #3
Gasibu in the morning. Everyone's there. I couldn't barely breathe. Unfortunately I didn't make it. I didn't go to the most popular flea market around Indonesia, GEDEBAGE :((((((((
But I got this, for only IDR 30k.

Batagor KirCon was our lunch menu that day. IDR 15k you got 3 jumbo batagor. Magnifying.

The last destination...
Cimuncang, where @cicuph resides.

I think I need to get another inclination to retreat from unpleasant realities through diversion or fantasy for the sake of my mental's health. LOL.
