Lewis Carroll

(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

    "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
        The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought–
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
            And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came wiffling through the tulgey wood,
      And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
        The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
            He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
       He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
     And the mome raths outgrabe.

Alice found the above poem printed backwards in a book (while she sat watching the White King, and feeling a bit anxious). Holding it up to a glass she was able to read it, although not necessarily to understand it. Luckily, five chapters later, Humpty Dumpty volunteered to explain it to her. His success in this is debatable, however, given the number of literary types who have found the need to write their own interpretations.
The first stanza was published in the comic journal Mischmasch in 1855 under the title Stanza of Anglo-Saxon Poetry. The later full poem, Humpty's explanation, and inded the entire Through the Looking-Glass was published in 1871, and in many other editions since. For example,

*This is another obscure and peculiar piece of writing that I indulge so much since I was in the college. It gives me tremendous feeling of absurdity yet it takes me wondering around my own wandahland. :)
Well, I encountered this Jubjub bird today. I can bear its sharp bite. If it got worst, I would like to explode my wrath undoubtedly. Beware of my own vorpal sword, you Jubby bird.

    cool-MEW-nation :))

    H A P P Y  M E W  D A Y

    for frengers all over Indonesia!!!

it was the MEW-est day we have been waiting for long. it was a final climactic stage when MEW ultiMEWtely came to see us in person for the fourth times (? - citation needed - wikipedia mode: on. LOL). at the core stake, i'd like to praise the almighty TWITTER, for making us tweeted not only craps but also spreading glorious news about Mew's upcoming shows.

I remembered the day when I came across a tweet saying that Mew had confirmed their show in Indonesia. it was a lame and dull afternoon. i was in my homie lil townie, spending my summer break (ahelahh :P) I just couldn't believe my own eyes! was it real? man! been 3 years since their last show in Kenjeran, Soerabaia! i dashed to my room and immediately texted my partner in criMEW. Angela Dias. WOOHOO! we're gonna throw a parteeeeeeehh! I bought the presale ticket on the day as it was tweeted by @SoundRhytm if i'm not mistaken it was on 27th of June '13. i could only say to myself, "Geez, seriously, it'll be like waiting for forever until October 26th! Man!"

counting down the days until October 26th wasn't as easy as I thought. periods of positive and negative events, moods or interactions happened. the best and the worst. even the worst mare. the bitter and the sweet. Tinged with sadness. it was an interval like a movie with a bittersweet ending. i flew too high, way too high and when I fell down, it hurt me so much. filled with disregard. instilled with an abrupt change of my image. well, we made mistake once in a while, righty? July ran smoothly, August was scummy. September was quite somber. OK-tober? it's the time to say OK to every single thing!

the D day has arrived, I could barely wait to go to the venue. the day before, one of my fellow frengers informed me that there'll be a meet and greet session with MEW and d'nassivep. I couldn't make it, alas. it was my office hour and I couldn't go anywhere. other frengers started posting their photos with MEW members. oh how lucky you guys are! so happy for yahh :))

things didn't go as i've planned. some senior teachers impelled me to go their party far far away in cisauk, gosh! seriously! i wouldn't be able to catch a train to jakarta! crapcrapcrap. i was off to jakarta like at 5, and the traffic was MENTAL! it took me an hour to go from BSD to Alam Sutra, which is only 5 or 7 km. i was so desperate at that moment. the tix would be expired at 7 pm. i thought i wouldn't make it..........

it was app 7.30 when I arrived. the queue line was way awful. we lined up. right at our back stood two female bules. they looked confuse. one of them finally asked me, "mba, maaf, bisa bahasa inggris?" i just surprised and giggled. they are kate from england and angela from US. they're exchange students embarking their bachelor degree on socio-culture at UNES Semarang. they came all the way from Semarang to watch One Republic. they even asked me "who is MEW? Indonesian band?" oh well.. =______= "they're Danish.." i bet they never heard of it before, they're quite 'mainstream'. hehe.

we entered the venue at 8.30 pm. we missed club 8 but that's ok, since i only knew two songs of club 8, which are 'Whatever you want' and 'I would never' :P to my surprise, One Republic was outstanding. they had a marvelous live performance. fyi, i just noticed that Ryan Tedder is OneRep's vox soon before i went to Guinness Arthur's Day :P muehehe.. his vocal's got constant stability.high pitch and was just awesome. he's quite communicative, tho. he even said two impeccable things about Jakarta: it was quite beautiful, and the traffic was just crazy. he never saw motorcycles raced all over the place, in between cars, even on pavements! he also made funny gestures about this. he said Penne, Italy, shares the same typical of motorcycle riders like we have in Jakarta. :D

my watch showed 11.00 pm as the end result of a succession, when MEW's performed. The crowd was right under the spell of "Making Friends", "Special" and "The Zookeeper's Boy" and the rest of the set list I could hardly remember since I was busy ENJOYING ONE OF THE MOST PRECIOUS TIME IN MY WHOLE LIFE. since that time, i have decided to be a full time LIFE ENJOYER. ;))

*oh and by the way, I got editted this post and found a picture of MEW setlist live @ GAD. courtesy of @indofrengers :))

    Samsara by Thanissaro Bhikkhu

Samsara literally means "wandering-on." Many people think of it as the Buddhist name for the place where we currently live — the place we leave when we go to nibbana. But in the early Buddhist texts, it's the answer, not to the question, "Where are we?" but to the question, "What are we doing?" Instead of a place, it's a process: the tendency to keep creating worlds and then moving into them. As one world falls apart, you create another one and go there. At the same time, you bump into other people who are creating their own worlds, too.

The play and creativity in the process can sometimes be enjoyable. In fact, it would be perfectly innocuous if it didn't entail so much suffering. The worlds we create keep caving in and killing us. Moving into a new world requires effort: not only the pains and risks of taking birth, but also the hard knocks — mental and physical — that come from going through childhood into adulthood, over and over again. The Buddha once asked his monks, "Which do you think is greater: the water in the oceans or the tears you've shed while wandering on?" His answer: the tears. Think of that the next time you gaze at the ocean or play in its waves.
In addition to creating suffering for ourselves, the worlds we create feed off the worlds of others, just as theirs feed off ours. In some cases the feeding may be mutually enjoyable and beneficial, but even then the arrangement has to come to an end. More typically, it causes harm to at least one side of the relationship, often to both. When you think of all the suffering that goes into keeping just one person clothed, fed, sheltered, and healthy — the suffering both for those who have to pay for these requisites, as well as those who have to labor or die in their production — you see how exploitative even the most rudimentary process of world-building can be.

This is why the Buddha tried to find the way to stop samsara-ing. Once he had found it, he encouraged others to follow it, too. Because samsara-ing is something that each of us does, each of us has to stop it him or her self alone. If samsara were a place, it might seem selfish for one person to look for an escape, leaving others behind. But when you realize that it's a process, there's nothing selfish about stopping it at all. It's like giving up an addiction or an abusive habit. When you learn the skills needed to stop creating your own worlds of suffering, you can share those skills with others so that they can stop creating theirs. At the same time, you'll never have to feed off the worlds of others, so to that extent you're lightening their load as well.
It's true that the Buddha likened the practice for stopping samsara to the act of going from one place to another: from this side of a river to the further shore. But the passages where he makes this comparison often end with a paradox: the further shore has no "here," no "there," no "in between." From that perspective, it's obvious that samsara's parameters of space and time were not the pre-existing context in which we wandered. They were the result of our wandering.

For someone addicted to world-building, the lack of familiar parameters sounds unsettling. But if you're tired of creating incessant, unnecessary suffering, you might want to give it a try. After all, you could always resume building if the lack of "here" or "there" turned out to be dull. But of those who have learned how to break the habit, no one has ever felt tempted to samsara again.

    Short Mezzanine Sparks

I remember the day after I woke up & I was heartbroken that he was gone. I just felt, "Ok, so I have to wake up and have another BRIGHT day"

It might be the worst thing has happened in my life, but I should remember some people out there have the worse thing happen in their life.

Then I was thinking, our love was way too meek to seek.

Well, it's just better for us not to be together anymore. You seemed a lot more happier than before. I've drawn away, yet I have to get myself back. Back to the real world. I have my own and so do you.

The worst lie ever comes out is, "It could be so sweet when someone I (used to) love is happy with someone else."

    (bukan) balada konspirasi hati.

seketika larut dalam pusaran angin penuh aroma magis bernama gundah gulana.

entah sudah berapa lama sinkronisasi hati dan pikiran tak sejalan.

menimbulkan letupan atomik pertanda keduanya protes.

    mereka ingin rujuk kembali.

    mereka ingin berjalan seirama.

mereka ingin bergumul melawan keterpurukan ini bersama.

    kemudian momentum itu tiba-tiba datang.

    menyeruak masup.

    menyela.

seperti badai interupsi kala sidang paripurna.

    sekali kedip dia hilang.

    di pertigaan.

semoga selamat sampai tujuan. tujuanmu paling akhir.

    awal dari sebuah akhir.
